Overview
NoteFiler is a program that will help you organize information. It will allow you to enter important information into your computer and then find it again very quickly. You enter the information into your computer using the familiar file cabinet as a metaphor. Your information is presented as cabinets, drawers, folders and items. Each of these contains articles which can contain formatted text, pictures and even embedded files.
What does this mean to you? Well, you will now be able to locate all those things that used to elude you. NoteFiler can be used to organize anything - your Recipes, Books, Family Tree (genealogy), Digital Media (MP3's, Videos, CDs, Cassettes, Albums), Home Inventory, and much, much more. A Hierarchy for your Information
As you can see from the screenshot above, NoteFiler gives you the ability to organize your information into a logical hierarchy using a metaphor you understand – a filing cabinet. Not only is it easy to setup a hierarchy in NoteFiler, it is easy to change it if you should change your mind on what the best hierarchy is. The ability to arrange your data in a logical way is a key advantage that not only lets you find stored data quickly by drilling down the hierarchy, but also allows you to create reports that present your information in nicely formatted, intelligent and understandable way.

Undo/Redo |
NoteFiler has both Undo and Redo and both are virtually unlimited. The undo feature will allow you to undo changes you make to Labels and Contents, deleted articles, imported articles, merged articles, report configuration changes and more.
Copy To and Move To |
You can use the Copy To or Move To commands to either copy or move an item with all of its children to a different location within the NoteFiler hierarchy.
Easy and Elegant Reports
NoteFiler allows you to easily generate reports of the data that you’ve stored and gives you a tremendous amount of flexibility over how the reports will look allowing you to create truly elegant reports. With NoteFiler’s reports you can keep a list of all your videos in your family room end table a list of your favorite recipes in a kitchen drawer and a list of your books in your library.
Templates NoteFiler includes the ability to define templates that allow you to specify fields within the Contents field. For example, you might have a ‘Recipe’ template that included these fields: Picture, Serves, Rating, Cook Time, Ingredients, Instructions, and Notes. You can define custom fonts, font sizes, and other attributes for each field so that they have a ‘finished’ look when you print them out.You are no longer confined to the fields that dedicated programs for keeping track of certain types of data force you into. You decide what fields you want to include and you can change your mind anytime and modify or rename them. |
Define a Template for all Child Articles
This feature makes the attachment of a Template automatic for all children of a particular article. For instance, if you create a Cabinet named Recipes and in each of the Drawers you create subcategories like Entrées, Desserts, Vegetables, etc., you can, for each of the subcategories, specify that all Folders created under those Drawers will automatically have the Recipe template attached so that your recipes are always consistent.
Up to 50 Articles
The Lite Edition of NoteFiler allows you to store up to 50 articles per NoteFiler database. If you find you like the program, you can upgrade to the Pro Edition for virtually unlimited articles.

Date Created and Date Modified NoteFiler keeps track of when you create or modify any article. |
Both Automatic and Manual Backup NoteFiler can now be configured to backup whenever the program is closed and to also backup after a certain number of minutes have past while the NoteFiler database is open. Backups contain a timestamp so that you know when it was created. |
Hyperlinks You can insert hyperlinks in your notes. Just type a valid URL and then you'll have a clickable hyperlink that will bring up your browser with the desired web page if you click it. |
Links to Other NoteFiler Articles
You can insert links to other articles in your database. For example, if you are keeping track of books you've read, you can create a separate list of Authors with notes on each author and then just create a link to that author in the article that describes the book. No need to duplicate information. Clicking the link takes you directly to the article on the author and you can click the Back toolbar icon to go back to the book you were reviewing prior to clicking the link.
Inserting the links is easy too because NoteFiler's Insert Link dialog lets you type just a few letters of the desired article's label and will
display the results as you type. Once the desired label appears in the list, just highlight it and press Enter. If you want the link text to be different than the label of the article you're linking to you can change it as desired. |
